Public Notice: Implementation of Parking Prohibition on Bridgewater Drive
The City of Richmond Hill has received a number of concerns regarding road operations from residents on Bridgewater Drive relating to increased parking on the street from users of the TRCA trail system within Jefferson Forest. City staff have reviewed the situation and have confirmed that on-street parking on both sides of Bridgewater Drive has resulted in insufficient pavement width to accommodate emergency vehicle access and two-way traffic flow.
Emergency temporary parking prohibition signs have been deployed on Bridgewater Drive to ensure that emergency vehicles and two-way traffic can be accommodated until permanent signage is implemented.
Staff will be bringing forward recommendation for a Parking By-law amendment to Council before summer 2020 to permanently restrict parking along the west side of Bridgewater Drive, from Stouffville Road to its southerly limit (see attached figure). The emergency temporary signage will be removed and permanent signage will be installed once the By-law amendment is approved by Council.
