Public Service Announcement - New Provincial Limits on Social Gatherings in Richmond Hill
All Scheduled Recreation Programs Continue
RICHMOND HILL – Today, the Ontario government announced a reduction to limits on the number of people permitted to attend unmonitored and private social gatherings across the entire province.
For all Ontarians including Richmond Hill residents, the maximum number of people permitted to attend social gatherings, such as dinners, parties and BBQs, is now 10 people indoors and 25 people outdoors.
In response to the recent increase in active cases in Richmond Hill, residents are asked to help protect our community by:
- Practicing physical distancing
- Washing your hands
- Wearing a mask or face covering
- Staying home if you are unwell
- Following advice and guidance from York Region Public Health
Recreation Programs and Activities
The new provincial limits do not affect indoor and outdoor City recreation programs and activities or the upcoming drive-in concerts at Tom Graham arena. These activities will go ahead as planned with COVID-19 protocols in place and supervision from City staff to help protect the health of participants.
Parks and Outdoor Amenities
While City parks and outdoor recreation amenities, including skate parks, playgrounds, outdoor exercise equipment and off leash dog areas, remain open, the new provincial limits on outdoor social gatherings are in effect. Residents visiting City parks are asked to follow the public health guidance posted, including practicing physical distancing, and to avoid crowding. Community Standards officers will be monitoring City parks.
The new limits also affect permits for gatherings in City parks. City staff will be contacting permit holders and will be refunding permit fees for cancelled permits for gatherings that exceed the new limits. Permit requests for facility rentals will be strictly reviewed for compliance with the provincial orders.
The City is taking a gradual and phased approach to re-opening and continues to work closely with York Region Public Health to monitor and respond the changing situation.
