Public Service Announcement - Waste Bins and Garbage Tags Now Available at Operations Centre
RICHMOND HILL – Beginning today, Richmond Hill’s Operations Centre (1200 Elgin Mills Road East) will re-open with modified hours for blue box, green bin, kitchen catcher and garbage tag purchases and exchanges.
Purchase prices for garbage tags (sold in sets of five) and new waste bins are available online. A new exchange fee of $7.35 (plus HST) will apply to replace damaged or broken Richmond Hill-labelled blue boxes and green bins to help offset replacement costs. Payment must be made by Interac, Visa or MasterCard. No cash payments at this time.
If you are a resident in a new house (excluding custom built homes) you can get a free set of recycling and organics containers by bringing your Tarion certificate (with photo I.D.) to the Operations Centre (1200 Elgin Mills Road East).

Three-bag garbage limit returns September 21
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Richmond Hill took action to help residents who were doing their part to stop the spread by staying home, including by doubling the number of items that could be placed at the curb on waste collection days.
With the community steadily working to re-open, the garbage limit will return to three (3) items per collection beginning Monday, September 21, 2020. Additional items will require the purchase of a garbage tag in order to be collected.
Visit us online for more information on purchasing or exchanging Garbage Tags and Bins, including what to expect during your visit.
ADDITIONAL FACTS
- Waste bins and garbage tags cannot be purchased at the Main Municipal Offices (225 East Beaver Creek) at this time. The office remains closed to the public, except for appointments for certain services. Visit RichmondHill.ca/COVID19 for information.
