Drop-in Programs, Recreational Swimming and In-person Fitness Classes Begin in April 

RICHMOND HILL – The City of Richmond Hill is implementing a gradual and phased reopening plan offering residents more to do while helping protect the community and staff from the risk of COVID-19.

Now open 

• Tennis courts at Brickworks Park, Russell Farm Park, French Royalist Park, Town Park, Bayview Hill Park and Tannery Park are open when conditions are favourable. Visit RichmondHill.ca/Tennis for details.
• The Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts is now offering permits for community groups and presenters to live stream and/or pre-record virtual events. Shows and events will not include live audiences. Ticket information for online events will be posted at rhcentre.ca as details become available. For more information on theatre permits, contact Theatre Manager, Michael Grit at michael.grit@richmondhill.ca. 

Coming soon 

• Bayview Hill Community Centre is expected to reopen on Tuesday, April 6 for adult and adult 55+ drop-in sports programs and in-person fitness classes. Pre-registration is required and capacity will be limited. Registration opens on Monday, March 29.
• A second ice pad at Ed Sackfield Arena will open on Tuesday, April 6 for permits only.
• Centennial Pool is expected to reopen on Monday, April 12 for recreational swimming and Aquatic Leadership Programs. Pre-registration is required and capacity will be limited. Registration opens on Friday, April 9.
• Starting March 29, Richmond Hill Public Library locations will open for in-branch holds pickup and express computer/printer use (no appointment required). The Library will continue to provide pre-booked curbside pickup and drop box returns, with a variety of programs and digital services available online. Continue to check rhpl.ca/reopening for the latest updates on library services.

Closed 

• While the main Municipal Offices remain closed to the public until at least June 2021, residents can access many City services online, by phone or by appointment.
• All other community centres, pools, fitness centres and arenas remain closed until further notice. 

We continue to work with our partners at York Region Public Health to monitor COVID-19 and provide non-clinical support at York Region’s local vaccination clinic. As provincial restrictions ease, additional facilities and recreational opportunities are expected to become available. 

Help keep our community safe

The City has implemented health and safety protocols to help keep participants and staff safe. Anyone entering an indoor City facility is required to complete a COVID-19 self-assessment and screening form for contact tracing purposes. Residents are further reminded that you can help stop the spread of COVID-19 by doing the following:

• Maintain physical distancing of at least two metres from others
• Wear a mask or face covering indoors, as well as outdoors if you cannot physical distance
• Wash your hands thoroughly and often
• Stay home if you’re sick, even with mild symptoms
• Download the COVID Alert app
