Remembrance Day is about honouring members of the Canadian armed forces, past and present, and showing our gratitude for their sacrifice to preserve our rights and freedoms.

Richmond Hill is proud to partner, once again, with our Royal Canadian Legion – Branch 375 to commemorate Remembrance Day locally. A small, in-person ceremony will take place on November 11 at our cenotaph on Yonge Street with safety protocols in place. While our event is modified to ensure the safety of our veterans and the public, it is important that we recognize all those who served.

Flags will also be lowered to half-mast at all Richmond Hill facilities.

Wherever you are on November 11, at 11 a.m., I encourage you to pause and reflect on what this day means. Remember those who laid down their lives for our community and our country in the First World War, the Second World War, the Korean War, Peacekeeping missions and in Afghanistan.

Give thanks for their service and give thanks for our freedom.
