Richmond Hill Appoints Committee To Support City Action On Housing Affordability
Richmond Hill – Richmond Hill Council is continuing to move towards its goal of helping make housing more affordable for current and future residents, appointing seven members to form its new Affordable Housing Strategy Implementation Committee.
The committee will oversee implementation of the City’s Affordable Housing Strategy. Its role is to facilitate partnerships with a variety of stakeholders and organizations involved in the housing sector, as well as to advocate to other levels of government for support, in order to address the demand for housing that is affordable to low and moderate income households in the private housing market.
The appointed members are as follows:
- Mayor David West
- Regional and Local Councillor Joe DiPaola
- Cheryl Geness (representing the Richmond Hill Board of Trade)
- Gabe Di Martino (representing the Building Industry and Land Development Association)
- Ally Esmail (representing the Ontario Non-Profit Housing Association, co-operative housing providers, and non-profit housing providers)
- Kathleen Mochnacki (representing the supportive housing providers)
- Michael Clare (representing affordable housing advocates)
