Richmond Hill CAO Appointed New OMAA President

The Ontario Municipal Administrators’ Association (OMAA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Richmond Hill Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Neil Garbe, as its new OMAA Board President for the upcoming year.

“It’s an honour to serve the association as this year’s President,” said Neil Garbe. “OMAA is an important organization that allows municipalities to work together, share best practices and actively promote the importance of professional management in local government.

Mr. Garbe brings more than 20 years’ experience to his new role. He has been Richmond Hill’s CAO for almost two years and previously was CAO of the Town of Aurora and Executive Director, Strategic Initiatives and Administration for The Region of York. Through the Ontario Municipal Management Institute, Mr. Garbe is a Certified Municipal Manager III. He holds a Master of Urban and Regional Planning from Queen’s University and a Master’s Certificate in Municipal Management from York University’s Schulich School of Business.

“Richmond Hill is fortunate that our CAO is so actively involved in municipal governance,” said Richmond Hill Mayor Dave Barrow. “It’s important that we have the opportunity to learn and share best practices, and through Mr. Garbe’s efforts that is a guarantee of knowledge and leadership we can be proud of.”

The Ontario Municipal Administrators Association membership is comprised of CAOs, city managers and other individuals who exercise all-encompassing management responsibilities for Ontario municipalities.  The members of OMAA are dedicated to the concept of effective, democratic local government by responsible elected officials. They strive to enhance the value of the municipal order of government by promoting continuous improvement in municipal government administration and leadership excellence in local public service throughout Ontario.
