Richmond Hill Mourns Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II
RICHMOND HILL – With great sadness, the Mayor and Members of Council on behalf of the City of Richmond Hill recognize the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Queen of Canada. Richmond Hill’s thoughts and prayers are with The King, the Royal Family and all members of The Commonwealth as together we mourn her passing.
After her father's death, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II was crowned in Westminster Abbey on June 2, 1953. Also in 1953, a Canadian law, the Royal Style and Titles Act, formally conferred upon Elizabeth II the title of Queen of Canada.
Queen Elizabeth II reigned for 70 years.
Flags at Richmond Hill’s main Municipal Offices and City facilities have been lowered to half-mast in her honour.
A condolence book will be available to sign at the main Municipal Offices, 225 East Beaver Creek Road, during regular business hours, beginning Friday afternoon until the end of the official mourning period in Canada.
