The City of Richmond Hill is excited to announce the official opening of the Richmond Hill Cultural Centre, a vibrant new creative hub that celebrates the city’s growing arts and culture community while honouring its architectural heritage. 

Located at 10184 Yonge Street, the Cultural Centre is housed in one of Richmond Hill’s most historic buildings – originally built in 1936 as the town’s first purpose-built post office. The transformation of this historic site reflects the City’s ongoing commitment to revitalizing its downtown and nurturing local arts and culture. 

The opening event, held October 28, welcomed Mayor David West, Members of Council and community leaders for guided tours. Guests explored newly renovated studios, digital production rooms and flexible creative spaces designed to host artists, cultural groups and community programs. 

The Cultural Centre reimagines its historic site as a space for creative connection, offering studios and flexible areas for artistic work and longer-term use by local cultural groups. Programming may include workshops and cultural events, helping the Centre grow into a vibrant hub where stories are shared, ideas sparked, and creativity celebrated. 

About the Building

The building’s architecture blends Art Deco and Georgian Revival styles, reflecting its 1930s origins. Designated under Part IV of the Ontario Heritage Act, it has been carefully restored to preserve its historic character while adapting the space for modern creative uses.
