We Need Your Input for the City’s Tennis and Pickleball Strategy

Richmond Hill – The City of Richmond Hill wants your opinion about the draft Tennis and Pickleball Strategy that has been developed to address the growing demand for these sports in our community.

Expected to be completed in 2027, this comprehensive Strategy will guide the City’s approach to providing equitable access to tennis and pickleball courts through 2041.

Highlights of the draft Tennis and Pickleball Strategy:

• Prioritizing the construction of an additional 12 court pickleball hub at Richmond Green and a pickleball hub at Brodie House Park (with design work expected to begin in 2027 and construction anticipated to start in 2028).
• Outlines where new courts will get built immediately and in the future across the city.
• Increasing the number and locations of pickleball courts, including more neighbourhood pickleball courts and additional pickleball hub locations in the north and south of the city.
• Designating as a priority, the construction of eight tennis courts in the north end of the city at the future community park in West Gormley by 2031.
• Facilitate eight new summer community tennis club courts by 2041.
• Plan for tennis courts at new or existing parks to address service gaps to 2031.
• Build two new tennis courts at Heron View Park.

The comment period for the draft Tennis and Pickleball Strategy is open until July 31, 2026 and is available at RichmondHill.ca/Tennis.
