Last week, several pieces of public art were stolen from Richmond Hill’s Lake Wilcox Park while the park was closed overnight.

I am both heartbroken and appalled. Public art is an important part of our thriving community, celebrating our unique spaces and diverse culture. The stolen statues have been standing in the park for years and were adored by the community. 

The theft has been reported to York Regional Police, and I still hope that the art will be returned to where it belongs—the people of Richmond Hill.
