This Remembrance Day, we honour the brave men and women who gave their lives for our freedom. We pay our respects to all those who have come before us, remembering their courage and sacrifices. And we acknowledge and thank those that continue to serve and protect our country today.
Richmond Hill is proud to support our Royal Canadian Legion – Branch 375 in the commemoration of Remembrance Day. This year marks the return of the Legion’s Remembrance Day Parade – the first since the pandemic began. We invite the community to join us for the parade and ceremony on Sunday, November 6 at 10 a.m., beginning at Yonge and Wright Streets and ending at the Cenotaph outside the McConaghy Centre.
On November 11, flags will be lowered to half-mast at all Richmond Hill facilities. Wherever you are on Remembrance Day, at 11 a.m., I encourage you to pause and reflect. Remember those who laid down their lives for our community and our country in the First World War, the Second World War, the Korean War, Peacekeeping missions and in Afghanistan. Honour their memory and legacy.
David West, Mayor
City of Richmond Hill
