A zoning by-law implements a municipality’s official plan and regulates land use and development, such as where buildings can be built, how they generally look like, how tall they can be, how close they are to the street, how much parking or landscaping is needed, the type of uses on a property, and many other development requirements that are important to everyone in the city.
In March 2025, Richmond Hill Council adopted By-law 30-25 to establish new zoning standards for most of the city’s Centres and Corridors Zones. The New Comprehensive Zoning By-law will set new development standards to build and grow the vibrant city we call home.
