A Note on Aquatics Programs
The City believes swimming is not only a popular recreational activity, but also a valuable life skill. Due to training restrictions during the pandemic, the aquatics industry is currently experiencing a national shortage of qualified lifeguards and swim instructors. We appreciate our residents’ patience and understanding as we continue our efforts to recruit and train new staff so we can add more programs.
To better serve the swim programs in our community centre pools, the City is temporarily closing the Wave Pool, effective November 28, 2022, until we are able to recruit more staff. Wave Pool programs will be relocated to nearby Bayview Hill Community Centre and Pool (same day/time).
We recognize this can be frustrating; please know our staff are doing their best to accommodate as many swimmers as possible, while maintaining a safe and healthy environment.
Know someone who is a lifeguard or swim instructor? Let them know were hiring for aquatics employment and other great opportunities with the City! For more information, visit Jobs.RichmondHill.ca.
