Impact of new Provincial COVID-19 Restrictions on City Facilities and Programs
RICHMOND HILL – Today, the Government of Ontario announced additional public health measures, effective Sunday, December 19, 2021, to slow the spread of the COVID-19 Omicron variant as they accelerate the booster dose rollout. As a result, residents should be aware of the following:
Gathering limits
To mitigate COVID-19 transmission that can occur at informal social gatherings, the province is reducing social gathering limits to 10 people indoors and 25 people outdoors.
Permit holders for event and meeting spaces in City facilities are required to comply with the new indoor gathering restrictions and other public health measures. City staff will reach out to permit holders to discuss the changes where applicable.
Facility restrictions
Ontario is introducing a 50 per cent capacity limit in a number of indoor public settings, including indoor recreation amenities such as fitness centres, community centres and arenas. Staff are awaiting further information from the province in order to determine the full impact of the restrictions. Those impacted will be contacted by the City directly.
Due to the new restrictions and unfavourable weather conditions, the City is delaying the opening of the Richmond Green Skate Trail. Subscribe to RichmondHill.ca/OutdoorSkating for updates.
Further updates and information will be posted online at RichmondHill.ca/COVID19 as soon as they become available.
