Municipal Class Environmental Assessment Study
Red Maple Road Modifications
The Project
The City of Richmond Hill is undertaking a study to review the traffic operations and potential road modifications for Red Maple Road. The study area includes Red Maple Road from High Tech Road to Highway 7.
The corridor is approximately 450 metres long and provides access to Langstaff GO Station on the west side, plus several large commercial retail and restaurant uses via several full-movement stop-controlled intersections. During peak times, drivers at these intersections are experiencing lengthy delays turning onto Red Maple Road. There are also above-average numbers of collisions along the corridor, and no controlled pedestrian crossings mid-block.
The purpose of the study is to review the existing and future traffic operations of the corridor and recommend operational and safety modifications. A preliminary design will be prepared following the selection of the preferred solution.
The Study Process
The project is being planned under Schedule B of the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (October 2000, as amended in 2007, 2011 and 2015) process.
You are Invited
A virtual Public Information Centre (PIC) is being held to provide members of the public with an opportunity to view the study findings, review the preliminary preferred solution and provide comments. The PIC presentation will be available on the City’s website for viewing on November 9, 2020. Please visit the City’s website for more information and to view the PIC material.
