RICHMOND HILL – For the safety and enjoyment of all, park goers are reminded of new and existing rules at Lake Wilcox Park.

• Effective September 1, barbecuing is no longer permitted at Lake Wilcox Park. Barbecues damage the sod and create a potential fire hazard.

• Tents have never been allowed at Lake Wilcox Park or any other City park. They damage the grass and create a tripping obstacle.  Tents also block the lake views that bring people to Lake Wilcox, impeding the enjoyment of all park goers.

• Digging the ground is not allowed at Lake Wilcox Park due to the damage it causes. This includes digging large umbrellas into the turf.

Community Standards Officers at Lake Wilcox Park will enforce the rules regarding no barbecuing, no tents and no digging the ground, up to and including fines for non-compliance. Lake Wilcox Park is a premier destination park in Richmond Hill, designed for use by residents across the City. Pay parking was installed earlier this summer at the four parking lots that serve the park, with a free parking permit available for Richmond Hill residents at Parking.RichmondHill.ca.
