Richmond Hill – Richmond Hill Council approved the City’s Transportation Master Plan (TMP) which will support the future of travel in Richmond Hill to 2051.  

This comprehensive Plan establishes the City’s goals for all types of travel within the community, for current and future residents, whether they walk, bike, drive or take public transit. Its focus is on improving active and sustainable modes of transportation and building better connections within the city such as through road improvements, new sidewalks, trails, separated bike routes, traffic signals, bridges and more. The TMP was developed with input from the community through extensive public consultation.

The City plans to invest in increasing accessible, safe and sustainable transportation infrastructure within Richmond Hill, to accommodate the evolving needs of travellers and emerging technologies over the next 30 years. These include: 

• Expanding and enhancing the active transportation (e.g. walking and cycling) and off-road trail network
• Planning for better public roads that improve safety, connections from neighbourhoods, and ease of travel
• Advocating for Regional and Provincial transit and infrastructure investments in Richmond Hill
• Developing policies, strategies and programs that promote safe and sustainable modes of travel to meet changing demands
