Richmond Hill Wins Award for 2025 Budget
Richmond Hill – The City of Richmond Hill has been recognized once again for excellence in financial planning. The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) has awarded Richmond Hill the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the City’s 2025 Budget.
The GFOA is a non-profit international association representing over 20,000 government finance professionals throughout Canada and the United States. The association’s Presentation Award encourages governments to prepare and issue budget documents of the highest quality. It ensures the public is fully informed of the administration’s policies, corporate initiatives and financial plans.
More than 1,700 governments across North America participate in GFOA’s Awards Program. This recognition is a testament to Richmond Hill’s strong commitment to transparency and accountability in how public funds are planned, managed and used.
To receive the Award, Richmond Hill’s budget was rated proficient in 14 required criteria, in addition to measuring the 2025 Budget Book against nationally recognized guidelines to determine how well it functions as:
- a policy guide
- a financial plan
- an operations guide
- a communications tool
Achieving this Award demonstrates how the City is putting its Strategic Plan 2024-2027 into action by effectively managing its resources for long-term financial sustainability, as well as social, environmental and economic sustainability.
