Richmond Hill – The City of Richmond Hill is finalizing its Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Strategy, which will guide the City’s approach to implementing public EV charge stations at City-owned facilities like municipal buildings, parks, community centres, libraries and more.

The EV Charging Strategy will define the City’s role in supporting the shift to electric mobility and guide the rollout of charge stations for EVs and consider charging recommendations for e-bikes and e-scooters. The development of a public charge station network aims to reduce emissions from personal vehicles, the dominant mode of travel in Richmond Hill today.

• The EV Charging Strategy is a key recommendation of the Community and Energy Emissions Plan (CEEP), which targets net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. Transportation is the City’s largest greenhouse gas source, and the CEEP identifies the development of a public charge station network as an effective way to support the shift towards low-emission transportation.
