Richmond Hill Opts Out of Cannabis Retail
RICHMOND HILL – Richmond Hill’s new Council voted unanimously to opt out of cannabis retail stores within its municipal boundaries in accordance with the Cannabis Law Statute Amendment Act, 2018. The Act allows municipalities to opt out before January 22, 2019.

Richmond Hill Names New Parks
Council approved the names of three new park sites, in accordance with the Policy for Naming and Renaming Town Parks, Open Space and Recreation Facilities. The new parks are Bill Bell Park, Flood Farmstead Park and Jefferson Salamander Park. Bill Bell Park is named after William (Bill) Fraser Bell, the longest serving Mayor in Richmond Hill’s history. Notice of Closure: Leslie Street for the Santa Claus Parade

To accommodate the parade, Leslie Street between Nineteenth Avenue and Major Mackenzie Drive will be closed during the parade starting at 5:30 p.m. However, as the parade passes, streets will be reopened for use from north to south as deemed safe by York Regional Police and Event Representatives.
