Ways to help support small businesses:

• Check if your favourite small retailers are online
• Buy gift cards for future use
• Get takeout. Many local restaurants that didn’t have takeout and delivery are now offering these options
• Don’t wait for Fridays or Saturdays to order in. Weekends are often busier than weekdays
• Use #SupportLocal and like, share and comment on social posts of local businesses
• Take photos of your purchases from local businesses and tag them on social media
• Post a positive review of your favourites on Yelp, Google or Facebook

There's no place like local for the holidays! 

From December 8 until December 20, York Region is encouraging residents to shop, eat and support local businesses safely during the holiday shopping season. Take the #ShopLocalYR Challenge by tagging or mentioning your favourite local business using #ShopLocalYR and be entered for a chance to WIN one of five $100 gift cards. You can use it at a local business in York Region.
