Calling All Artists!To help commemorate Richmond Hill’s 150th anniversary, the City will be commissioning three Community Mural Projects. For each project, artists will capture Richmond Hill’s past, present and future to provide a sense of social connectivity and community pride. Your inspiration for your mural can draw on the City’s anniversary brand story along with its colours. The RH150 Brand StoryRH150 is a moment to join together to celebrate all that makes us proud to call our vibrant community home. It unites people, culture, nature and heritage, and in that spirit of connection, inspires and excites us for what's next on the horizon.
The Projects:

EligibilityArtist applicants must reside in York Region and be able to demonstrate connection to Richmond Hill. Artist must adhere to the City's project timelines and schedule provided. City of Richmond Hill employees are not eligible to apply. Submissions are now closed. Thank you to all of our artistic applicants! A Review Team comprised of Richmond Hill staff and community members are now evaluating all applications. Be sure to keep an eye out around the City this summer – you may catch one of our artists in action! Stay tuned to this page for updates on our unveilings.

Create your very own time capsule! As we look back at 150 years of Richmond Hill’s History. A time capsule is a great way to create a snapshot of what it is like to live in Richmond Hill today. Look around for items that paint a picture of a place, people, or current events. Place the items in your “capsule”. Time capsules are fun to assemble and re-opening the time capsule years later is an insightful way to look back on the past with items that are meaningful to that time. Sign up for your free time capsule and pick it up at the Richmond Hill Heritage Centre. While you are there, take in our special exhibition ‘Capturing Time’.

Collecting Time – 150 Years of Memories Exhibit (located in the South Gallery) Take a look back at 150 years of Richmond Hill’s history, as we open our Time Capsule of artifacts. Explore this behind the scenes exhibit as we uncover treasures from the past and learn about the process of creating time capsules to preserve relics for future discoveries. Library Local HistoryRichmond Hill Public Library offers a variety of genealogy services to community members, which includes access to print and digital databases, research help, and use of microfiche readers.
