Richmond Hill Emergency Plan
Did you know Richmond Hill has emergency management programs and plans in place? We are committed to protecting our residents and property, and works collaboratively with all levels of government to ensure everyone’s safety and security.
Richmond Hill's Emergency Plan helps staff, emergency personnel and residents during emergency situations such as:
- Tornadoes
- Floods
- Airline crashes
- Terrorist attacks
- Civil disturbances
- Other disasters caused by nature or man
Our Emergency Plan:
- Identifies the roles, responsibilities and actions required of City staff and partners in mitigating, preventing, preparing for, responding to and recovering from major emergencies and disasters
- Ensures a coordinated response to save lives, prevent injuries, protect property and the environment
- Enables decision makers to efficiently and effectively deploy available resources
- Includes processes for activating our Emergency Operations centre and declaring an emergency
The Emergency Operations Control Group and two other teams made up of alternates are responsible for putting the Plan into action and testing it once a year during our annual exercise.
