Canada Post Corporation provides centralized mail delivery to some Richmond Hill residents through community mailboxes located across the city.

Take Your Mail Home and Recycle It

To keep our community beautiful, please take your mail home and recycle unwanted items in your blue box. Please do not leave unwanted mail at community mailbox locations, stuffed between mailbox slots or on the ground. The litter can spread throughout neighbourhoods, make its way into parks and natural areas, attract additional illegal dumping and create unnecessary cleanup costs.

Community Mailbox Maintenance

Community mailboxes are owned and maintained by Canada Post, which is responsible for clearing mail-related litter, removing snow around mailbox locations and ensuring safe access for residents.

How to Report an Issue at a Mailbox Location

• To report issues with a community mailbox including mail-related litter or snow clearing concerns, contact Canada Post at 1-800-267-1177 or visit canadapost.ca/support
• To report illegal dumping of household waste, contact Richmond Hill at 905-771-8800 or access@richmondhill.ca

Community Mailbox Recycling Containers 

Richmond Hill currently has recycling containers at 375 existing community mailbox locations. Residents are encouraged to take unwanted mail home and recycle it in their blue box whenever possible. 

If a recycling container at a community mailbox is overflowing and needs to be emptied or is damaged and needs to be replaced, please contact Access Richmond Hill at 905-771-8800 or access@richmondhill.ca 

Stop Receiving Unaddressed Advertising Mail

To stop receiving unaddressed advertising mail, you can participate in Canada Post's Consumer Choice Program: 

1. Place a note in your mailbox where your delivery agent can see it, stating "No admail".
2. If you continue to recieve admail, or would like to restart the delivery of unaddressed admail, you can let Canada Post know by calling 1-800-267-1177. Learn more by visiting the Canada Post Consumers' Choice webpage.
