Canada Post Community Mailboxes
Canada Post Corporation provides mail delivery to some Richmond Hill residents using a community mailbox that's located in a central part of their subdivision.
Community mailboxes belong to and are maintained by Canada Post.
Richmond Hill launched a program to help keep neighbourhoods clean by installing recycling bins next to community mailboxes where residents reported litter issues.
As of February 2025, Council approved limiting the program to the existing 375 locations. The City is no longer accepting any new requests and will only service the existing recycling bins.
Residents are encouraged to recycle unwanted admail and flyers by putting them in their blue box at home. Please do not litter.
To stop receiving unaddressed advertising mail, you can participate in Canada Post's Consumer Choice Program:
- Simply place a note in your mailbox, where your delivery agent can see it, stating "No admail".
- If you continue to receive admail or you would like to restart the delivery of unaddressed admail, you can let Canada Post know by calling 1-800-267-1177 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday to Friday.
If you have a recycling bin at your community mailbox that is overflowing and needs to be emptied or is damaged and needs to be replaced, please contact Access Richmond Hill at 905-771-8800 or access@richmondhill.ca.
Canada Post is also responsible for clearing the snow around the mailboxes and making them accessible.
If you have an issue to report about your community mailbox, including snow clearing activities, contact Canada Post online via canadapost.ca/support or by calling 1-866-607-6301.
