A ‘Significant Weather Event’ has been declared effective 3:00am on Wednesday February 18, 2026 due to the forecasted freezing rain/snowfall and possibility of poor road/sidewalk conditions.

Winter Maintenance Activities
Road Operations
A road salting operation is ongoing for all City roads.
Snow removal efforts continue throughout the City of Richmond Hill. Crews are working to clear residual snow from roadways, sidewalks, laneways, cul-de-sacs and narrow streets.

How long does it take to clear the snow?
Staff work hard to clear roads, sidewalks and windrows as quickly and efficiently as possible. Primary (main) roads are cleared first, followed by secondary (neighbourhood) roads. Once the snow stops falling, we aim to clear the snow in:
