Project Background
City of Richmond Hill has identified a need to undertake an extension of Addison Street which will be located between existing Addison Street and Weldrick Road West on the west side of Yonge Street. The general study area is bounded by Harding Boulevard to the north, Weldrick Road West to the south, Kersey Crescent to the west and Yonge Street to the east.
The proposed southerly terminus of the road extension is located approximately 300m to the north of the Yonge Street and 16th Avenue/Carrville Road Key Development Area (KDA) and urban growth centre for intensification. The Addison Street Extension will generally help establish the limits of the intensification boundary, and provide some separation and/or transition opportunities between the existing low density neighbourhood in the west and the new development form that has been recently constructed, approved or planned along the Yonge Street corridor.
The Addison Street Extension will improve the road network by providing local transportation capacity, residential and servicing vehicular access opportunities for new development, a finer grid network as well as new active transportation opportunities.
