Message from the Fire Chief
Richmond Hill Fire & Emergency Services has been part of this community’s story since 1881. What began as a small group of dedicated volunteers has grown into a modern, full-time department made up of highly trained professionals who stand ready to protect lives and property every day.
Our mission is simple but vital: to keep people safe. We do this through prevention, education, enforcement, and emergency response. Whether it’s teaching families how to plan a safe escape, ensuring buildings meet fire and life safety standards, or responding to emergencies with skill and compassion, we are committed to being there when you need us most.
Our services extend far beyond fire suppression. From medical emergencies and highly technical rescue operations to public education and community outreach, our team brings a high level of skill, professionalism, integrity, and dedication to every call. Every day, I am proud of the expertise, courage, and commitment our members bring to the citizens, visitors, and businesses of Richmond Hill.
Safety is a shared responsibility. Each resident plays a role by practicing fire safety at home, maintaining working smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, and preparing escape plans. Our role is to support you with guidance, resources, and rapid response when emergencies occur.
I encourage you to explore our website to learn more about our programs and discover practical steps to protect yourself, your family, and your neighbours. Together, we can prevent emergencies before they happen and ensure Richmond Hill remains a safe, resilient community.
