The Transportation Master Plan Update will update and integrate the City's Transportation Master Plan, Pedestrian and Cycling Master Plan, and Trails Plan into one seamless document.
To align with the timing of the York Region Municipal Comprehensive Review, Richmond Hill Official Plan Update, and Richmond Hill Development Charges Update, the Transportation Master Plan Update was paused in 2020. The majority of previously-completed work is being confirmed and updated to ensure current relevance.
Phase One – Multi-modal network development and project costing, including public engagement on the draft active transportation (walking and cycling), recreational trail, transit, and road networks.
Phase Two – Programs, policies, and implementation strategies, which will include public engagement on the draft Transportation Master Plan document.
In 2018, the City conducted an online survey and held public information centres at Oak Ridges Community Centre, Richmond Green Sports Centre, and Elvis Stojko Arena. Presentation boards were made available, which included maps of the existing and proposed road, active transportation and trails networks. A copy of the presentation boards is available upon request.
In 2022, the City again sought the community's input through an online survey to better understand evolving trends and changes to the way people travel, compared to the previous 2018 survey.
